Southern Charm at Home

It’s hard to believe we have already been in our sweet little house for a year and a half now! We have had so much fun making it into a home that is welcoming, inviting and all our own! We have tackled projects both large and small and continue to learn something new about home ownership daily. One of the most fun parts has been creating a space that is just as full of southern charm as our city, Charleston, has to offer. I was recently able to share a few of my favorite Southern Charm Home DΓ©cor Tips with RedFin – you can read the full article right here!

Here are a few more ideas and details to consider when wanting to add a classic and southern touch to your home!

Start with a neutral palette such as whites, creams, and light greys. We chose to paint all of our interior walls White Dove by Benjamin Moore for a bright and open feel. As well, we chose a large, white sofa in our living room for a focal point. Starting with neutrals allows for color and pattern to be added throughout as accents. Think loud wallpaper, textured pillows and printed linens for a fun and welcoming feel!

Another way to add a southern flare to your home is by mixing new pieces with old. Source items such as beddings, couches, and pillows from boxed stores of your choice. We love Serena & Lily, Pottery Barn and Ballard Design to name a few. Then, start adding in antique and vintage pieces such as books, art work and statement furniture to add a lived in and inviting atmosphere.

Lastly, do not forget about your outdoor living spaces! In the south, the way you live outdoors is just as important as behind closed doors. Think dining al fresco with friends in the warm summer nights, sweet tea on the front porch with your mama and yard games on the back lawn with the neighborhood kiddos! Focus on comfy seating with a clean look and fresh flowers and greenery of course!
