Weekend Recap Vol. 6

This past weekend was one for the books because…..my husband turned THIRTY!! (and yes I know….low quality pictures for this blog post but high quality memories) It is crazy to look back and see how fast time is flying by right in front of our eyes…it seems like we were just on our 1st date when he was only 23 but I cannot wait to see what this next decade has in store for him!

His actual birthday was on Thursday, August 24th so we had a sweet and simple celebration together at home that morning with birthday presents, smoothies and lots of coffee. We both had an unfortunate amount of work that day but we powered through, got all freshened up and headed out to dinner. We enjoyed the most delicious pasta on Sullivans Island at The Obstinate Daughter and finished the evening with a stroll though town and a massive ice cream cone from Sullivan’s Fish Camp.

Friday was my FAVORITE day of the whole weekend because I have been planning a SURPRISE 30th Birthday party for Gabe all month long! I’ve never hosted a surprise party so it was all new to me and SO hard not to mention any of the details that I was planning behind the scenes to him.

He was fully convinced we were having fajitas for dinner and meeting our friends for dinner on Saturday night so the plan worked and he was beyond surprised when he arrived home from work Friday night to see his friends all gathered in our home to celebrate him all night long! We all had the best time and I think it was truly a birthday he will remember forever!

Saturday was truly a rest and recover day for all of us (even Leyla) if you know what I mean. πŸ˜‰ We stayed in our pjs, watched lots of Netflix and took it easy!

Sunday morning we slept in and had a quiet morning at home getting the house back together and catching up on weekend chores. We felt the need to leave the house so we freshened up and strolled around a few stores including Old Navy, Ballard Design and Home Goods. Then we headed to the movies for National Cinema Day – you can’t beat $4 movie tickets and $4 popcorn/drink combos – and there’s not much else to do in this extreme South Carolina heat. We went to see Strays and had high hopes because one the main characters is a Boston Terrier which is the same breed as our beloved Leyla. lol However….I cannot recommend the movie at all and will say it was very vulgar and over the top….but what weekend! Memories that we will all remember forever πŸ™‚

Never miss a post!
