It’s beach season baby! We have officially had our 1st (and 2nd) beach day here in South Carolina and my heart is oh so happy. In case you haven’t noticed by now, and read my blog name, the beach is my favorite place in the world to be and where I will be almost every weekend for the next few months. There’s no place I would rather be than in a beach chair with my toes in the sand listening to the waves.
Since we spend a lot of time at the beach, packing accordingly is very important to ensure the perfect beach day! I’ve got the essentials down and always have my beach bag ready to go. I’m sharing all the details on what’s in my bag below.
Beach bag – A large straw tote is a must for the beach! They hold a lot, are very durable and the sands falls off easily. My exact bag is from a few years ago but I have found two similar bags for under $50 here and here.
Sunscreen – Since working for a dermatologist, the importance of sunscreen has been ingrained into my head and no one should go to the beach without it! If you are a Costco member they have great bundles on Neutrogena sunscreen for the summer, which is one of my go-to brands for sun protection. Their Beach Defense aerosol spray is perfect for the body and I love the Ultra Shield dry touch for my face. SkinBetter Science is a medical grade skincare line that also has some amazing sun products. Their sunscreen compact and sunscreen stick are perfect for your face, ears and neck and go on velvety smooth! Last but not least, don’t forget your lips! Sunbum has this tinted lip balm with SPF that I really like. It comes in several shades and isn’t sticky.
Hat – I never go to the beach without a hat. I tend to wear my straw hat the most because it gives me the most protection from the sun but I also like wearing a baseball hat as well. Here is a similar straw hat that is only $40 and here is my favorite baseball hat from Vineyard Vines.
Hair Accessories – If you have long hair like me you know you never want to go sit at the beach without a hair tie! I prefer Teleties because they don’t pull my hair and this headband is great to keep any bangs off your face.
Beach Towels – Our Ugg beach towels are my favorite ones to date! They are oversized, soft and absorbent.
Sunglasses – My Ray Ban aviators are a beach classic they fit perfectly under a hat!
Speaker – This Bluetooth speaker is only $20 and perfect for playing music all day. It’s very small so it doesn’t take up much room and will stay charged all day.
Book – Nothing is more relaxing than reading the latest copy of Southern Living Magazine or a good book, Make Life Beautiful, while listening to the waves.
Water Bottle – I never go anywhere without my Yeti tumbler! Fill it with ice water and it will last you all day, even out in the sun.
Snacks – A beach day is never complete without lots and lots of snacks and a “Pub Sub” (if you know you know)! Our current go to snacks are Takis but be warned, they are SPICY!
I hope this helps you pack for your next beach day! What are your beach bag must haves?!
