Weekend Recap Vol. 5

It’s been a minute since I have shared a weekend recap and these past few days are some worth sharing! Many of you might not know that I grew up in the mid west, Missouri to be exact, and I still have quite a bit of family there.

Gabe and I loaded up our bags and headed to Arkansas for a weekend on the lake and the opening weekend of a large fall festival at Jackson Farms with some of my family that I haven’t seen in YEARS! The drive was 13+ hours but well worth it.

We checked into the lake house Thursday afternoon and spent the afternoon catching up and getting settled in. We ended the evening all gathered around the dining table for a family dinner that filled my heart.

Friday we spent the day catching up on last minute work tasks, exploring a local downtown area and eating lunch at a local diner. That evening we had a bon fire down by the lake complete with roasting hot dogs and marshmallows for smores! I truly forgot how sweet it is to enjoy the simple things in life and needed a time to reset from the madness that life sometimes is.

Saturday we headed to Jackson Farms for the entire day. If you are ever anywhere near the area of Blackrock, AR this place is a must see. The farms are over 350 acres and fully functioning. The fall festival runs for 6 weeks in the fall and has all the classic fall activities you could want including a hay ride, petting zoo with the cutest baby animals, lots of pumpkins, hand dipped corndogs & fresh squeezed lemonade!

We had the best time unwinding and slowing down the pace of life. Take the trip, spend time without your electronics, build the bon fire, give your mom the extra hug – life is too short to skip the sweet parts.

Never miss a post!
